VR Experience - Computing

Year 5 had a fantastic time on their Virtual Reality Space experience! They flew through space finding out about lots of the different planets on their way. Tom, from the VR company, commented on how well behaved and friendly  the children all were!

War Dances - PE/Dance

Having found out about the Haka and other traditional war dances during the rugby world cup, children in year 5 had a go at coming up with their own - they were really quite intimidating!!!

Solar System - Science

To find out how big our Solar System really is, we had to go out onto the field! The scale size stretched the entire length of the field from one corner to another!

Maths investigation

Rowan class were investigating the cheapest way to go on holiday to Australia!

Spellings and homework

Year 5 were sent home with homework and spellings on Tuesday. The homework is due on Monday (16th) and children will be tested on the spellings on Monday too. The spellings are as follows:

Welcome to Year 5! - Transition

Hello and welcome to Year 5!!

We hope you have all been enjoying the first few days of term - we have both really enjoyed getting to know you! Information for parents will be coming out in the half term letter, but for your information our PE days are Monday (indoor) and Thursday (outdoor).

We have started this term by looking at space, and we found out just how big the Solar System really is!

NB - there is one tiny mistake on the knowledge organisers that were sent home (sorry!)! They should read that Copernicus was actually a Polish astronomer, not an Italian one!

Nature Art!

Poplar class spent the afternoon looking at the work of Andy Goldsworthy, an artist who creates sculptures using only natural items such as leaves, rocks and twigs. They then spent the rest of the afternoon foraging around the fields looking for things to use - here are the results!
