In French we have been greeting each other and deciding what we like and don't like. This week we revised our colours as well.

Spellings set Friday 26th September
These spellings were set Friday 26th September. They look easy but all need to be spelt correctly in context.
"They're going to put their bags over there."
"I went to the beach and saw two dogs, it was two too many!"

Look what fantastic work Milly did over the weekend - if you want to know anything about our Solar system, she is the one to ask!
Investigating shadow lengths through the day
As it was a brilliant sunny day, we set up an experiment in the playground. We first predicted what we thought would happen. Then came back at intervals throughout the day.
Explaining Explanations
We looked at the structure and language features of explanation writing today. We found the structure is like the instructions we looked at last week but there are some language features that are new that we need to learn about.

Big Instructional Writing
Today we have gathered all our knowledge of What Makes Good Instructional Writing and written some recipes to be proud of!
How do we get the seasons?
We have looked at how Earth has an imaginary axis running through it from the North Pole to the South Pole. It is also tilted to 23 degrees and this is why we have seasons. As we orbit the sun, when the Northern Hemisphere is tilted towards the sun, it is closer to the sun so it is Summer. When the Northern Hemisphere is tilted away from the sun, it is further away from the sun so it is Winter.

Scaling recipes
We had great fun investigating what would happen if we needed our scone recipe to make different amounts of scones.
The first group had a recipe that made 4 scones. They looked at what would happen if they wanted to make 8 scones, 10 scones or 12 scones.
The second group had a recipe that made 8 scones. They looked at what would happen if they wanted to make 12 scones or 2 scones.
Catch the scones before they're ...sssscone! (RRS)
The children had great fun going in groups to the kitchen where they read and followed a recipe to
make some delicious scones in preparation for our Big Writing tomorrow - A big thank you to Mrs B and Mrs M.
