Our Curriculum this half term ....

English  We will be:
       ·         Writing instructions
       ·         Reading the Butterfly Lion by Michael Morpurgo during guided Reading.
       ·         Writing our own Explanation Texts about How we get Day and Night
       ·         Writing Autumn Poems using a variety of descriptive techniques.
       ·         Following the Oxford Owl Read, Write Inc. Spelling Programme.
Maths  We will be:
  • Using Place value to a million
  • Learning Column addition and Subtraction
  • Thinking about how we multiply mentally
  • Polishing up our Times Tables knowledge and related division facts
  • Multiplying and dividing by 10,100 and 1000
  • Understanding Properties of Triangles
  • Converting Measures
  • Working out Perimeter and Area of 2D shapes
Science  We will be:
  • Understanding the Earth’s movement in space
  • Working scientifically
Art & DT  We will be:
  • Learning about two artists: Peter Thorpe and Claude Monet
  • Improving our painting techniques.
Music  We will be:
  • Listening to and responding to music.
  • Composing and preparing our own rhythmic patterns to play as part of a whole class cyclic pattern.
Geography  We will be:
·         Identify and describe the geographical significance of Equator, Northern Hemisphere, Southern Hemisphere, the Tropics of Cancer and Capricorn, and the Arctic and Antarctic Circle.
·         Describing key aspects of physical geography, including: climate zones.
·         Describe and understand key aspects of human geography, including: settlements, land use and economic activity.
PE  We will be:
  • Having gymnastics every Friday afternoon working on balances.
  • Having Games every Wednesday afternoon.
RE  We will be:
  • Compare different ways Sikhs put their religion into practice.
Computing  We will be :
  • Learning about Algorithms: writing our own using Scratch and debugging ones that already exist.
PSHE  We will be:
  • thinking about how to cope with uncomfortable feelings in new situations
  • understanding how others might feel in new situations
MFL  We will be:
  • Learning Spanish
  • Learning about a French Café.
